Domestic Animal Management Plan 2026 - 2029

The Domestic Animal Management Plan 2026-2029 outlines Wyndham City Council's approach to managing dogs and cats across the municipality over the next four years. Developed in accordance with the Domestic Animals Act 1994, the plan guides the delivery of animal management services, education programs and regulatory activities.

The plan focuses on promoting responsible pet ownership, encouraging pet registration and identification, reducing nuisance and dog attacks, supporting animal welfare, and managing issues such as overpopulation and dangerous dogs. It also outlines actions to help keep pets, owners and the broader community safe.

The plan was informed by community consultation and identifies key priorities including responsible pet ownership education, registration and microchipping, cat management, animal welfare initiatives, and community awareness programs.
