Young writers aged 5 to 18 are being encouraged to unleash their creativity and share their stories in Wyndham City Libraries Annual Imagination Creation Writing Competition.
Entries are open to young writers between the ages of 5 to 18 years who live or study in Victoria. Participants can submit one entry per category; one poem and one short story – providing an opportunity for young people to use their imagination, storytelling and let their creativity shine.
The competition features a range of age categories, with prizes awarded for the best stories and poems in each group, recognising both emerging voices and standout talent.
The competition helps foster a lifelong love of writing and storytelling.
The Imagination Creation Writing Competition plays an important role in encouraging literacy, creativity, and confidence among young people and provides them with an opportunity to share their ideas in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Participants are invited to explore any theme or topic, allowing their creativity to take the over, whether through imaginative worlds, personal reflections, or poetic expression.
Community members, schools, and families are encouraged to support young writers by spreading the word and celebrating the talent within their networks.
There are three age categories, ‘5-10’ years, ‘11-14’ years and ‘15-18’ years and prizes are awarded in each category for the best poem and short story.
The Imagination Creation Writing Competition is open until Wednesday 15 July 2026.
