Wyndham City Council calls on election candidates to support one of Australia’s fastest growing cities

Wyndham City Council today launched A Way Forward for Wyndham, a community-led election advocacy campaign calling on all candidates at the 2026 Victorian State Election to commit to 16 priority infrastructure and investment projects across roads, rail, recreation and health.

The campaign, built around four investment packages and backed by the Council's evidence-based Advocacy Prioritisation Framework, reflects years of mounting pressure on roads, public transport, health services and community facilities in one of Australia's fastest-growing municipalities.

"Wyndham is home to 337,000 people and growing to 500,000 by 2040," said Wyndham City’s Deputy Mayor Jasmine Hill.

"Our roads are congested, our trains are overcrowded, our families wait too long for health care and community facilities. There is a way forward for Wyndham, but it requires the State Government to invest in our future. This election, we are asking every candidate, every party, to support our campaign and priorities."

The four investment packages include:

  • Roads: the Outer Metropolitan Ring Road, Wyndham Ring Road, and priority arterial road upgrades
  • Rail: three new train stations at Truganina, Black Forest Road and Sayers Road, a full redevelopment of Werribee Station, and electrification of the Regional Rail Link
  • Recreation: the Riverdale Aquatic Centre ($50M), Tarneit Indoor Sports Facility ($30M), The Big Shed community event space, Point Cook Indoor Sports Centre, Outdoor netball court canopy covers and the Point Cook Homestead Precinct ($8M)
  • Health: long-term funding to secure the Mercy Hospital's future and a new mental health service for Wyndham North.

The campaign will also feature candidate forums in each electorate in November, and a community voice program led by Wyndham's People's Advisory Panel residents who will be the visible face of the campaign across video, social media and public events.

"This isn't a wish list," said Cr Hill.

"Every one of these 16 priorities has been selected because it is evidence-based, Council and community-endorsed, and a State Government responsibility. Wyndham's community is watching, and they deserve answers before they vote."

The 2026 Victorian State Election is on Saturday 28 November 2026.
