A Carnatic Conversation is a free concert experience that asks a simple question: what happens when ancient music meets an open room?
Divija and Aditya Akella have each spent over a decade with their instruments — veena and violin — and on Make Music Day they bring them somewhere they belong: in the middle of a community, surrounded by curious ears. Together, their two voices weave a sound that is rich, immediate, and alive. Joined by live accompaniment, the performance unfolds as a conversation between musicians and audience alike.
This is not a concert to sit quietly through. Expect explanations, stories, and the occasional revelation — the hidden imagery in a lyric, the emotion a raga was built to carry, the way a rhythm can shift the feeling in a room. The music moves between meditative and joyful, ancient and immediate.
A Carnatic Conversation is for anyone who has ever been curious about Indian classical music but never found the door in. It is for those who already love it and want to hear it somewhere new. It is, above all, an experience best shared.
Come as you are. Bring someone with you.
