Neighbourhood House Week

Wyndham City Council is inviting residents to connect, learn and celebrate during Neighbourhood House Week this May.

Running from 11 -17 May, Neighbourhood House Week (NHW) is an annual national celebration recognising the vital role of neighbourhood houses and community centres in promoting community well-being and connection.

Across Wyndham, local Community Centres will host a variety of activities, workshops and events, giving residents the opportunity to explore new interests, meet new people and discover the programs available in their local area.

Community Centres are welcoming spaces where people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities can come together to learn new skills, access support services and participate in low-cost programs that strengthen community connections.

In Wyndham, these centres play a vital role in supporting community wellbeing, offering everything from social groups and educational programs to volunteering opportunities and cultural activities.

Neighbourhood House Week provides an opportunity to recognise the contributions of volunteers, staff and community members who bring these spaces to life, while encouraging more residents to get involved.

The week also features Australia’s "Largest Community-Led Lunch" initiative, aiming to set a record while celebrating the theme "Your Place to Connect".

Residents are encouraged to visit their local Community Centre during the week to take part in activities and experience the sense of belonging these centres foster.
