Wyndham City invites the community to help plant over 3,500 trees in Williams Landing to mark National Tree Day on Sunday 27 July.
Wyndam City’s Williams Landing Ward Councillor, Cr Larry Zhao said the annual tree planting day was a highlight on the community calendar.
“National Tree Day is an opportunity for our community to come together and contribute to the health and wellbeing of Wyndham, leaving a lasting legacy that shows our community spirit,” he said.
“Families and friends get together, pull on some gloves, get a little dirty and help make Wyndham more beautiful and healthy, while increasing habitat for our native animals.”
“It’s always great at the end of the day when our volunteers enjoy a free coffee and barbecue, to hear about their success in helping to plant so many trees.”
“We will be planting along the Federation Trail, which is part of the Greening the Pipeline project.”
“Our planting day will green a small section of the project that covers 27km of the heritage listed Main Outfall Sewer (MOS) reserve.”
This project has been supported by the Victorian Government through the More Trees for a Cooler, Greener West program.
