Mayor's Message

Werribee Park Ward Councillor Mia Shaw is the elected Mayor of Wyndham City for the 2024-2025 year.

Cr Shaw is serving her third term as a Wyndham Councillor, having first been first elected in 2016. She also served as Mayor for the 2018-2019 term.

Mayor Message (March/April)

The recent State and Federal government announcement of more than $330 million for road improvements in Wyndham was a vital first step in meeting the ongoing infrastructure needs for our growing community.

A large portion of the money will go toward the much-needed Werribee exit at Main Road, at the Princes Freeway interchange.

This has been a long-term advocacy priority for our Council. The Main Road upgrade will provide a new roundabout at the Princes Freeway exit ramp to Wests Road; a new lane to the Main Road bridge; improved citybound entry ramp and more traffic lights at key intersections, including the congested Ballan Road, Greens Road roundabout.

This interchange is crucial and will unlock the benefits of the new section of Ison Road and the Ison Road overpass, which will be completed in 2026. The State Government has listened to us and is now delivering.

But this is just the first step. We need ongoing investment in essential infrastructure, including rail, bus and road networks and community assets such as aquatic centres and libraries. We simply can’t do it alone.

Council is fighting hard to get as much investment money as possible from our State and Federal counterparts so we can deliver the infrastructure and services you need.

We know that better transport infrastructure will reduce congestion in Wyndham, strengthen regional connectivity, increase employment opportunities, and boost economic growth.

Our growing community deserves the best. And we are working hard behind the scenes to achieve this.

I look forward to bringing you regular updates throughout the year.
