Ison Road Overpass

This $80 million Wyndham City project has delivered the Ison Road extension, which connects the existing Ison Road Overpass with the Princes Highway (Geelong Rd), helping residents get home sooner and safer.

This priority Connecting Wyndham project will significantly improve connectivity, catering for more than 29,000 daily journeys to help meet Wyndham West’s growing transport needs.

Big Build Roads delivered this project on behalf of Wyndham City.

Features

A 1.3km, four-lane road between the Ison Road Overpass and an upgraded intersection at Geelong and Wests roads

New walking and cycling path connecting to existing paths on Ferntree Drive in King’s Leigh Estate and Geelong Road to boost local active transport opportunities

Two bus bays near the upgraded intersection to cater for future public transport routes in Wyndham’s west

With these major works now complete, Big Build Roads will continue putting the finishing touches on the new intersection linking Geelong Road, Werribee Main Road and Ison Road until the end of 2026.

Benefits

  • Enhanced connectivity: the project will provide a direct link to the Princes Freeway to enhance connectivity for residents and commuters alike.
  • Improved safety and reduced traffic congestion: the additional lanes and improved road infrastructure will alleviate traffic congestion and enhance safety, particularly in central Werribee.
  • Catering for future growth: the overpass and new section of Ison Road are anticipated to accommodate more than 29,000 daily journeys by 2036, effectively meeting the growing transportation needs of the region.
