Wyndham’s Young Person of The Month – June

Wyndham City is proud to announce Elizabeth Tun as the One Wyndham recipient for June.

Elizabeth is an inspirational young person who strives to make a difference in the local community by being a strong advocate and raising awareness of mental health and social inequality.

Elizabeth encourages young people to share their stories and lived experience to create meaningful change.

As a young Ambassador for the Shrine of Remembrance, which is a 13-month volunteering role, Elizabeth has assisted at commemorative services, promotes Shrine of Remembrance events and activities in the community and helps to educate and raise awareness of the importance of history and remembrance services.

Elizabeth raises awareness and has volunteered her time fundraising for International Women’s Day, Reconciliation Week, Food Drives for Asylum seekers and Anglicare Christmas Toy Appeal.

She finds purpose in helping people through mentoring and displaying small acts of kindness and also serves in leadership roles including Social Justice Representative, Faith Committee and Student Representative Council.

She is dedicated to academic excellence, leadership and growth and is currently completing the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards which involves a commitment to service, physical activity and skill-building.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw, said: “Elizabeth is a positive role model for young people and encourages them to speak up for causes they are passionate about and take action.”

“Wyndham City thanks Elizabeth for the wonderful contribution she makes to the Wyndham community and for her volunteering and mentoring efforts.”

One Wyndham recipients are residents aged between 12 to 25 who positively contribute to the Wyndham community and are role models to other young people.

Each month Council selects a Wyndham resident to be awarded the ‘Young Person of the Month’.
