Wyndham City is proud to announce Akriti Jain as the One Wyndham recipient for April.

Akriti is committed to making positive change in the world through empowering communities.

Akriti supports this vision through volunteering with the Smith family and helping students improve their literacy through tutoring programs and volunteering with the Girl Guides as a district leader and organising food at the Salvation Army’s homeless shelter through the Deloitte Foundation’s philanthropic programs.

Most notably, however, is being selected as the sole participant from Australia to participate in the UN Women and UNICEF initiative to research female refugees and migrant women to understand the challenges of forcibly displaced refugees and identify potential strategies to increased funding.

She was also awarded the Global Citizenship Award in recognition of her exceptional dedication to community work.

Wyndham City Mayor Cr Jennie Barrera said: “Wyndham City is proud of Akriti’s achievements and thanks her for her dedication, commitment and volunteering efforts which has made a real difference to many.”

“Akriti’s vision to foster positive change is truly inspiring.”

One Wyndham recipients are residents aged between 12 to 25 who positively contribute to the Wyndham community and are role models to other young people.

Each month Council selects a Wyndham resident to be awarded the ‘Young Person of the Month’.
