Wyndham’s local sporting community came together today to celebrate the official opening of three exciting facility upgrades at Mossfiel Reserve and Wootten Road Reserve.

Wyndham City CEO Stephen Wall and Councillors joined Tarneit MP Dylan Wight at the unveiling of new LED lighting on netball courts 5 and 6 at Mossfiel Reserve, which will allow more training and competition opportunities for teams participating in the Hoppers Crossing Netball Association.

These works were jointly funded by Wyndham City and the Victorian Government’s Local Sports and Infrastructure Fund – Community Sports Lighting.

Also at Mossfiel Reserve, a new LED electronic scoreboard will provide a major game day enhancement for host clubs Wyndham City Rhinos Rugby Union Club and Bellbridge Cricket Club and their supporters.

The new scoreboard was funded through a Victorian Government Community Sport and Recreation Projects grant following advocacy from the Wyndham City Rhinos Rugby Union Club.

Over at Wootten Road Reserve, host clubs Tarneit Football Club and United Tarneit Sports Club were also thrilled with a new LED electronic scoreboard on oval 1.

The new scoreboard was jointly funded by the two clubs, the Victorian Government and an AFL Telstra Footy Grant.

Wyndham City’s Grange Ward Councillor, Councillor Shannon McGuire, said these upgrades marked a significant boost for grassroots sport in the region.

“These improvements are about more than just infrastructure – they’re about creating inclusive, modern environments where communities can thrive through sport,” Cr McGuire said.

Brinbeal Ward Councillor Robert Szatkowski added: “It also reflects our ongoing commitment to improving local facilities and creating spaces where teams can cater for growing demand and our community can come together, support their teams, and enjoy grassroots sport at its best.”

“Delivering these projects has really been a team effort, and I want to thank the Victorian Government and other sporting bodies that have helped fund these important works.”
