K Road reconstruction complete

Here’s news to get revved up about – the K Road reconstruction is now complete!

This $10.1 million Connecting Wyndham priority project has rebuilt a 2.8-kilometre section of K Road between Duncans Road and K Road Cliffs with sealed shoulders and delivered an improved intersection at Main Drive to boost access to and from major attractions such as the Werribee Open Range Zoo, Werribee Park Mansion and the Victoria State Rose Garden.

Other project highlights include a shared user path for pedestrians and cyclists, and enhanced connections to upgraded bus stops.

Wyndham City Mayor, Mia Shaw, said this vital upgrade has delivered enhanced safety and improved access to key tourism destinations in Werribee South.

“Reducing traffic congestion and improving road safety remains a key focus for Council, and the K Road reconstruction makes it easier and safer for Wyndham residents and tourists to travel to and from Werribee South,” Cr Shaw said.

“This transformative upgrade is the second major project we’ve delivered as part of our landmark Connecting Wyndham program, with two more critical upgrades underway and planning progressing on even more key transport links across our City.”

The milestone also marks the overall completion of the K Road Cliffs and Road Reconstruction project, which also delivered a new cliff-top walking path, viewing platforms, a staircase leading down to the river, interpretive signage, and drainage works at the iconic K Road Cliffs.

With this important Connecting Wyndham project now complete, work will soon commence on landscaping works along K Road.
