Wyndham City invites residents to attend the launch of the ‘Are You Ready?’ series of translated videos, that will be held these school holidays during Community Safety Month.
The launch will give families the opportunity to view the videos; speak to Emergency Services representatives; check out the emergency response vehicles, take home some give-a-ways and enjoy a community morning tea.
The short videos, available in English and translated into nine languages, explain what residents can expect and the information they may need to provide when they contact Emergency Services.
They also importantly explain how to complete an ‘Are You Ready? Plan’ which encourages residents to consider how they may need to evacuate their homes if there is a fire or other emergency, and to have important items packed and ready to take in case of an emergency.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw said the series of videos were an important resource for Wyndham’s culturally and linguistically diverse community.
“This series of 15 videos are a valuable resource that explains how our emergency services can help those experiencing a crisis and how residents can prepare, to enable them to be calm when in an emergency,” she said.
“A special thank you to all our partners who participated in creating the videos, this includes Melton City Council, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Country Fire Authority, Fire Rescue Victoria and Victoria State Emergency Services.”
This event and project are delivered with funding from the Australian Government.
