We’re giving Duncans Road (between Watton Street and Synnot Street) a vibrant $2 million makeover to create a safer, greener and more welcoming gateway into Werribee’s City Centre.

Construction has commenced on a series of streetscape upgrades that will deliver brand-new bluestone footpaths, feature seating platforms, landscaping, a raised pedestrian crossing at Watton Street, improved lighting and more.

Work will be carefully staged to keep things moving and ensure pedestrian access to local businesses is maintained throughout construction.

Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Josh Gilligan, said the Duncans Road streetscape upgrade was the first in a series of streetscape upgrades across the Werribee City Centre that will include new pavements, street furniture, greenery and parking facilities to improve accessibility and elevate the look and feel of the precinct.

“We’re investing millions of dollars to revitalise the Werribee City Centre – the heart of our City – to make walking, shopping and spending time in the area even better,” Cr Gilligan said.

“The Duncans Road streetscape upgrade forms part of a series of upgrades, events and initiatives being delivered through our Rediscover Werribee City Centre program, which is transforming the City Centre into a more vibrant, accessible and liveable place for everyone.”

“This is in addition to plans to reimagine the former Palais Theatre site in Station Place, a $750,000 refurbishment of the Old Shire Offices and a new public open space at Kelly Park.”

“Streetscape upgrades to Watton Street and Station Place are also on the cards, subject to future funding.”
