Battle of the Books is a FREE, structured reading challenge for Wyndham students in Grades 3–6, run by the Education & Youth team at Wyndham City Libraries.
Your school will go head-to-head with other local schools to find out who will emerge as the Battle of the Books Champion!
The aim of Battle of the Books is to earn points. Participants can earn points by logging their time spent reading and participating in curated individual, hybrid, and class activities provided by our Education & Youth Librarians.
The individual participants, class, and school with the most points win! Using Beanstack, a popular online reading platform, participants can log and track their progress throughout the competition, earn badges and rewards, and potentially win real-life prizes!
The competition offers a mix of activities that can be completed at home, in class, or at one of our library branches. In-class tasks support key areas of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, with activity resources provided.

How to Win
| Register on Beanstack | Log Reading Minutes | Complete Activities | Reward Codes |
Participants will register themselves using our Beanstack platform. Registration is free and easy. For more information and step-by-step instructions on registering, see our Beanstack registration video. | Reading is the core of the competition and the easiest way to participate. Students simply need to enter the book details and how many minutes they read on Beanstack. | Activities are listed on the Activity Badges page on Beanstack and can be completed by individual students or as a class. Some activities are class-based only, meaning they are run by the teacher. Others can be done by the individual student in class our outside of school hours. | Reward codes are entered into the Beanstack platform after activities are completed. Reward codes can be retrieved by the participant in person (e.g. at the library), from the Battle of the Books team, or from the teacher (e.g. after a class activity). Reward codes = points! |
