Wyndham City is proud to announce Isabella Guzzardi as the One Wyndham recipient for September. 

Isabella is a proud Kamilaroi woman who positively contributes to the Wyndham community through her engagement and commitment to supporting young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people through education, cultural engagement and mentoring. 

She plays a key role through her work as a Learning Support Officer in facilitating cultural activities that help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students strengthen their cultural identity, connect with community and develop a sense of belonging within their school environment.  Actively supporting students' educational, cultural and personal development. 

Through her role supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, Isabella has developed strong relationships, building confidence, cultural pride and educational engagement. She actively facilitates cultural activities and initiatives that create opportunities for students to strengthen their identity, connect with culture and develop a sense of belonging within their school community. Her contribution has seen increased participation, pride and attendance at cultural events among the students she supports.

Isabella inspires young people and is a role model for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, showing that young Indigenous people can pursue higher education, build successful professional careers and maintain a strong connection to their culture and community. She leads through action, consistently demonstrating integrity, maturity, empathy and respect.

She encourages students to be proud of who they are and creates opportunities for them to experience that pride firsthand including organising excursions to the Wathaurong Co-Operative and designing an Indigenous Football jumper.

Through her leadership and advocacy, she helps others better understand the experiences and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, strengthening cultural understanding across the broader school community.

Isabella was also recently nominated for the Westerman Jilya Institute for Indigenous Mental Health Scholarship reflecting both her potential and the impact she is already making; combining cultural knowledge, lived experience, academic excellence and a genuine commitment to supporting others.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw, said “Isabella is a wonderful role model, leader and support, demonstrating that education is a pathway to positively influence young people.”

One Wyndham recipients are residents aged between 12 to 25 who positively contribute to the Wyndham community and are role models to other young people.

Each month Council selects a Wyndham resident to be awarded the ‘Young Person of the Month’.

Winners are awarded a $300 gift voucher of their choice and other prizes.
