My name is Rob Monohan

I am a Taungurung Traditional Owner living on Boonwurrung Land.

I Acknowledge my Elders both past and present. I am proud to walk in their footsteps.

I am Co- Chair at Koling-wada ngal Aboriginal Corporation at the Wunggurrwil Dhurrung Centre.

I worked for Wyndham City Council for 34 years but I'm now retired.

In my retirement I do a lot of work in the local Community and my Taungurung Community in sharing , teaching and promoting Aboriginal Culture.

Hello, I'm Charlene, a 20 year old proudly representing the Kamilaroi Mob from northwest NSW. My stron

g ties to my Indigenous heritage fill me with great pride. Growing up with six siblings, I'm deeply committed to preserving our cultural traditions.

Engaging in community events and programs helps me deepen my understanding of our culture, which I hope to pass on to future generations. I find immense fulfillment in empowering young people and contributing to positive changes in Wyndham City Council.

My family history, especially the stories from my grandmother, hold a special place in my heart. She passed down our cultural heritage, and I'm determined to honour her legacy. As a proud Indigenous Australian, I embrace the theme of NAIDOC 2018, "Because of her, we can," acknowledging the sacrifices she made to shield our family from racism and discrimination. I strive to make the most of the opportunities she didn't have, aiming to create meaningful changes in her honour.

Aside from embracing my cultural roots, I take pride in being a dedicated dog mum to a Dachshund and Labrador. My main goal is to make a positive impact on my community, even when faced with significant challenges. Through embracing these challenges, I hope to empower others and encourage Uncles & Aunties to continue our traditions and dreamtime story-telling. 

Currently, I currently work for Indigenous Support at Melbourne University and spend my Saturdays at the Koorie Heritage Trust. 

Born in Tirupati, India, Prabhakar Agraja is an Indian-Australian multicultural community leader, educator, entrepreneur and mentor based in Wyndham. 

For more than 24 years, he has supported thousands of individuals and hundreds of registered training organisations through mentoring, leadership development and community engagement.

 Mr Agraja is the Founder and CEO of the Australia India Multicultural Awards (AIMA), an initiative dedicated to recognising talent, voluntary service, leadership and meaningful contributions to Australia’s multicultural community. He is also a multilingual singer, actor and artist, and a passionate advocate for inclusion, cultural diversity and community participation.

 As a Wyndham resident, Mr Agraja has a strong connection to the municipality through his involvement in multicultural initiatives, community events, education and projects that bring people from diverse backgrounds together.

 Mr Agraja joined the Wyndham Reconciliation Advisory Committee to listen, learn and contribute respectfully to Wyndham’s reconciliation journey. He hopes to support stronger relationships between Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal communities, encourage greater cultural understanding, and contribute to practical actions that advance respect, truth-telling, inclusion and reconciliation.

I am a proud Gunditjmara and Ngarrindjeri woman who has called the Wyndham lands of the Bunurong home for over 40 years. Through both my personal and professional life, I am passionate about strengthening and supporting First Nations communities.

 I currently work within Moondani Balluk, Victoria University's Indigenous Academic Unit, as a Koori Liaison Officer and Koori Student Support Officer in the TAFE sector. In these roles, I work closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, providing cultural, personal and academic support while creating culturally safe spaces. I also engage with schools, community organisations and internal stakeholders to strengthen pathways into education and improve outcomes for First Nations students.

 Having lived in Wyndham for most of my life, I have a deep connection to the community and have witnessed its growth and diversity. I wanted to join the Wyndham Reconciliation Action Committee (WRAC) because I want to contribute my lived experience and cultural knowledge to help strengthen relationships, promote cultural understanding and ensure Aboriginal voices are meaningfully represented in decisions that shape our community. I believe that by working together with respect and collaboration, we can continue to create lasting opportunities and positive outcomes for current and future generations.

I am a proud, strong Noongar woman and mum raising three strong Aboriginal children in Wyndham. I’m a community advocate, emerging leader, Aboriginal foster carer, an advocate for Aboriginal child and family welfare, family violence and NDIS and law student. My professional background spans approximately a decade across the above sectors with a strong focus on First Nations and children, families and individuals experiencing vulnerability.

My own cultural journey has also shaped my advocacy. Growing up away from Country and with limited cultural connection gave me a personal understanding of what disconnection can mean. As an adult, strengthening my cultural identity and community connections has become an important part of both my personal and professional journey.

I am passionate about ensuring First Nations voices are not simply acknowledged, but genuinely heard and included in the decisions, policies and services that affect our communities.

 Wyndham is where I live, where I’m raising my family, work, advocate and study while continuing to contribute to community. Over the years, I have built strong connections across Wyndham through community services, volunteering, leadership programs, advocacy and grassroots community engagement.
