Wyndham City is proud to announce Kaavya Kapoor as the One Wyndham recipient for August.

Kaavya leads by example and encourages others to believe in themselves and, that they can make a difference. Encouraging others that one small initiative can create lasting positive change. She serves the Wyndham community through both her school involvement and her extra curricula community activities.

Kaavya has a passion for leadership and is Vice Captain at her local high school and a member in the school band. Recently, she was recognised for academic excellence, leadership and community involvement and awarded the Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars program at the University of Melbourne.

She volunteers her time at Hindu and Sikh temples and participates in the St John Ambulance Youth Program to develop first aid, healthcare and emergency response skills.

Kaavya has participated in the Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program for the last two years. Working on projects including park clean-ups, educational activities and a lemonade fundraiser that successfully raised money to install a public drinking bubbler.

Wyndham City’s Mayor Cr Mia Shaw, said “Kaavya is a positive role model that leads by example.” 

“Wyndham City thanks Kaavya for her volunteering efforts and contribution to the Wyndham community.” said Cr Shaw.

One Wyndham recipients are aged between 12 to 25 who live, work, study or socialise in Wyndham and who positively contribute to the Wyndham community. 

Each month Council selects a Wyndham resident to be awarded the ‘Young Person of the Month’.

Winners are awarded a $300 gift voucher of their choice and other prizes.
