Wyndham's Building Blocks Community Leadership Program has been delivered in Wyndham since 2014. Designed to deliver on the objectives of both the Wyndham City Plan and Wyndham 2050 Community Vision, as well as other Council strategies, the program provides an opportunity for eligible people who live, work, study, volunteer or play in Wyndham to build and strengthen their capacity in community leadership and participation.
This program aims to support the contribution of individuals towards Wyndham as a diverse, active, well-supported and connected community with high participation in local and municipal community life.
Wyndham's Building Blocks program is a free, fully subsidised program for people who live, work, study, volunteer or regularly recreate in Wyndham and who are interested in working collaboratively with others to develop and strengthen their community leadership and participation skills.
Program participation is for people aged 18 years and over who live, work, study, volunteer or play in Wyndham and wish to develop their leadership capacity and/or are new and emerging leaders. Please note that eligibility criteria and a selection process will apply.
2026 Program - United for Diversity
The 2026 program focuses on strengthening intercultural leadership and connection across Wyndham’s growing and diverse community.
Participants will build their leadership skills and work in groups to design and deliver a community project, funded by Wyndham City Council.
The 2026 program is currently underway.
Following completion of the program, participants will be invited to join the Building Blocks Leadership Alumni network to continue their leadership journey.
Who is a community leader?
A community leader is a community member who mobilises and empowers others to make positive change within the Wyndham community through tangible actions with demonstrable community benefits.
The Building Blocks Community Leadership program’s objectives are:
- To provide participants with improved leadership skills and competencies, and a better understanding of civic participation and government.
- To ensure community capacity is built by providing opportunities for knowledge, skills and confidence to be applied.
- To contribute to a sustainable leadership framework that is inclusive, accessible and meets the needs of our diverse community.
- To deliver an enhanced community sector, through new community led initiatives and events and strengthened community organisations which serve residents of Wyndham.
