The focus of this six hour workshop is on giving you information that helps you appreciate your bees. I call it a bee-caring method due to me supporting the focus you choose; whether to enjoy the natural processes of bees, add to your health and wellbeing, or to maximise the honey yield.

Our small group means we can explore all your questions and each have time to interact with live bees in a range of hive types.
We will cover varroa management.

This workshop is suited to people 18 and over, however please contact me if you are booking for someone between 13 and 17, this may be acceptable if they are accompanied by a paying adult (over 18).

• Hives: types of hives and their pros and cons, parts of the hive.
• Planning and preparation: placement of a hive.
• Tools and equipment.
• Inside the hive: identifying brood, larvae, eggs, pollen, honey and nectar.
• Basic pests and diseases.
• Options for harvesting honey.
• How to keep costs down.

The order or schedule will change depending on the weather.

On days where the weather stops us opening a hive, I will attempt to alter dates.
