Wyndham City is undertaking a $10.5 million upgrade of the Tarneit Road and Leakes Road intersection.
This project has been prioritised due to its significant impact on road safety and traffic congestion, based on both thorough analysis and community feedback.
Features
- Duplicating the Tarneit Road and Leakes Road intersection, adding extra lanes to cater for growing traffic and minimise traffic disruptions.
- Upgrade and install new traffic lights to improve the flow of traffic
- On-road and off-road cycling lanes to enhance cyclist safety and connectivity
- Construction is expected to be completed in mid-2026.
Benefits
- Improved road safety: the upgraded intersection will significantly enhance safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
- Reduced travel times: optimising traffic flow at this busy intersection will lead to shorter travel times and less traffic congestion, making daily commutes more efficient.
- Better connectivity: enhanced pedestrian and cycling linkages will provide safer and more accessible routes for those walking or cycling, encouraging more sustainable modes of transport.
This important project is a key part of Wyndham City’s Connecting Wyndham program, which is creating a safer, more efficient, and connected transport network for residents and visitors alike.
