One of Werribee’s busiest local roads is set for a major rebuild.
Wyndham City has awarded the $2.6 million construction contract for the $6.6 million Thames Boulevard road reconstruction, with work on track to commence in November.
This Connecting Wyndham project will fully rebuild Thames Boulevard between Tarneit Road and Heaths Road, including a new road surface, kerbs and gutters, vehicle driveways, sections of footpath, minor drainage improvements, and new road signs and line marking.
The project will also deliver a rebuild of both school crossings to make them safer and easier to use, a new pedestrian crossing on the southern side of the Thames Boulevard and Danube Drive roundabout, as well as minor kerb changes to improve on street parking, refreshed line marking and upgraded road signage.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw, said these important works were an important investment in maintaining and improving Wyndham’s local road network.
“With a school, kindergarten, community centre, swim school, allied health services and other important destinations along this stretch, thousands of people rely on Thames Boulevard every week,” Cr Shaw said.
“This Connecting Wyndham project will provide a smoother and safer journey for everyone travelling through the area and make school pick-up and drop-off easier than ever with more on-street parking and clearly defined parking bays.”
The Thames Boulevard reconstruction is a key project in Wyndham City’s $13.1 million Road Reconstructions program for 2026/27, which aims to balance road renewal and maintenance with the City’s growing infrastructure needs.
