Wyndham City’s draft Waste and Litter Strategy 2026 - 2040 is now open for feedback. The strategy emphasises that waste is a shared responsibility, with community, industry, Council and other levels of government all playing a role.

It sets out a pathway toward a cleaner, greener and more circular future, shifting the focus from disposal to resource recovery through the use of Council's extensive service offering which allows a simple, cost-effective way for the community to manage its waste.

The draft strategy is informed by previous community consultation and aligns with the objectives of Victorian and Australian waste policies. 

The strategy’s Wyndham specific 2030 targets include:

• Recycling 62 per cent of kerbside and Council waste
• Reuse or recycle up to 65 per cent of materials collected through the hard waste service and 35 per cent of materials via the transfer station 
• Reduce the amount of dumped rubbish and
• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction

Leadership, whilst ensuring waste management remains accessible, affordable and easy to use.
