Wyndham City reminds drivers that school resumes this week and to observe the flags at school crossings.
Wyndham Deputy Mayor, Councillor Jasmine Hill said school crossings are in operation when the crossing flags were displayed.
“When school crossing flags are displayed, drivers need to slow down and prepare to stop,” Cr Hill said.
“You must stop at the white line if a child or adult is on or about to cross. It’s important to remain stopped until all pedestrians and the supervisor are completely off the road.”
“Additionally, be mindful where you park. Parking is prohibited within 20 metres before and 10 metres after a school crossing.”
“Double parking is also illegal and dangerous in school zones.”
“Those crossing need to wait behind the yellow line for the supervisor to blow the whistle twice before crossing – always walk, don’t run or ride bikes/skateboards across, or bounce balls.”
“Let’s all work together to make our roads safe at school crossings,” Cr Hill said.
