16 Days of Resources for 16 Days of Activism

Wyndham City Libraries is proud to join 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (25 November to 10 December), a global call for action against one of the world’s most persistent violations of human rights: violence against women.

We have selected 16 titles available from our libraries that unpack some of the complexities of gender and violence: from Olivia Laing's exploration of sexual politics and bodily autonomy, to Gisèle Pelicot's rallying call for 'shame to change sides'; from the real, enduring victims of The Iliad and The Odyssey in The Trojan Women, to the torrential rapids (and horrors) of artificial intelligence exposed in the documentary Ghost in the Machine.

Violence is not inevitable; it is preventable. It all starts with respect and every step matters, even if it begins with self-awareness, propelled by a single book, film or song.
