When will the Community Centre be built?

Design work for the Riverwalk Community Centre (interim name) will commence in 2025. Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with the centre hopefully being operational in 2028.

What is happening to the Discovery Centre?

As part of this project, the former Melbourne Water Discovery Centre (located within this same precinct) will be demolished. This vacant building is not compliant with current building codes and requirements, is in poor condition and unsafe.

Will there be any tree removals along Geelong Road as part of these works?

No, and in fact the Wyndham Environment & Sustainability Strategy 2016-2040 was considered as part of preparing and assessing the precinct plan options. The recommended option is designed to retain existing significant trees.

When is the Town Centre going to be built?

All planning permits for the future Town Centre have been approved by Council. Wyndham City understands work on this project is expected to commence in 2025.
