Waste Education Incursion booking form

Incursions for Wyndham schools are provided free of charge by Wyndham City’s Waste & Litter Education Officers. We encourage educators to expand the learnings from these sessions with follow up activities and further discussion.

Please submit your completed Booking and Conditions Form at least two weeks prior to your requested session date. One of our Waste Education officers will email you to confirm your booking time and date.

Privacy collection statement

Your personal information is being collected by Wyndham City Council for the purpose of Council’s communication with Wyndham Teachers Environment Network members in relation to meetings, environmental resources, programs, events and grants. Your information will be stored in Council’s Customer Database and used to identify you when communicating with Council and for delivery of services and information to you about School Incursion Booking. By registering your details, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as stated in the Terms and Conditions. Your personal information will be handled in accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).

Waste & Recycling – Students will learn how to manage general rubbish bins, how to recycle right, and discover what happens to their waste once it is collected from the kerbside. We’ll also cover why it is important to recycle and learn about the 3 R’s - reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Organics: Food Waste to Compost & Worm Farms - Students will learn the negative impacts of landfilling organics and ways to minimise food waste. They’ll also learn the difference between worm farming and composting and how they transform food waste into a valuable resource to use in the garden.

Wyndham Waste services (Adult Community Groups only): We discuss what can go in your kerbside bins - general waste, recycling and green waste. We look at what happen to your waste once it is collected and how to dispose of items that cannot go into your bins. We will also go through our waste services available to Wyndham residents.

Your waste educator may need access to a large screen with a HDMI cable connection. Can your School provide this?

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Our educators have current Working With Children Checks, which they will bring on the day. A copy may be provided prior to the event by request.

The following conditions apply to all incursions and should be agreed upon by all teachers participating in the sessions:

The room needs to be available at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the session as the Waste Education Officer may need to set up materials in the room.
The classroom teacher must be present in the classroom for the entire session to provide duty of care to the students.
The classroom teacher must enforce their disciplinary action in the session.
Maximum number of students per session is 30.
Minimum age requirement for incursions are 4+
