The Dohertys Road duplication (Tarneit Road to Sapling Boulevard) is a key project in Wyndham City’s Connecting Wyndham: Major Projects program and will significantly improve safety for all road users while ensuring the road network can support future population growth.
Features
- Duplicating Dohertys Road to two lanes in each direction between Tarneit Road and Sapling Boulevard
- Upgrading the roundabout at Dohertys Road and Tarneit Road to a traffic light intersection
- Installing traffic lights at the Dohertys Road and Rosso Drive intersection
- Realigning Dohertys Road to avoid multiple crossings of Dry Creek, as well as a new bridge over Dry Creek with new pathways to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists
This project is currently in the planning and design stage – stay tuned for further updates.
Benefits
- Improved road safety: the duplication of Dohertys Road and the upgraded intersections will significantly enhance safety for all road users and ensure the road network can support future population growth.
- Reduced travel times: additional lanes and traffic signal upgrades will result in shorter travel times and less congestion, getting you home sooner and safer.
- Enhanced pedestrian and cycling accessibility: upgraded pathways will provide safer, more convenient routes for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Reduced creek crossings: the realignment of Dohertys Road will remove two of the road crossings over Dry Creek and deliver an upgraded bridge crossing that will provide a flood-free road for up to a 1 in 100-year storm event, reducing the number of road closures due to flooding.
This important project is a key part of Wyndham City’s Connecting Wyndham program, which is creating a safer, more efficient, and connected transport network for residents and visitors alike.
