Wyndham City Councillors last night elected Cr Mia Shaw as the new Mayor to serve the remainder of the 2025–26 Mayoral term. 

Mayor Cr Mia Shaw said it was a privilege to be elected to serve the Wyndham community for the third time as Mayor. 

“It is a great honour to have been elected as Mayor of Wyndham City, and I thank my fellow Councillors for their support,” Cr Shaw said.  

“As a longtime resident who has always called Wyndham home, I care deeply about this community.” 

“I look forward to getting out across Wyndham, talking with our community and telling the story of the great work this Council is doing every day.” 

“We have endorsed a significant and exciting budget, with a substantial program of investment ahead of us.” 

“The next few months are critical and give us an important opportunity to strongly advocate consistently and collectively for Wyndham and what our growing community needs in the lead-up to the State Election.” 

“Wyndham is one of the fastest-growing communities in Victoria, if not the fastest. But growth without the infrastructure and investment to match has consequences.”  

“Our residents deserve investment that matches that growth in roads, rail, recreation, health, and community infrastructure.” 

“I am committed to working collectively with my fellow Councillors so we can deliver for our residents and advocate strongly for Wyndham’s fair share.”  

 “We have important work ahead of us and I look forward to getting down to business for the community we serve and deliver meaningful outcomes for Wyndham.” said Cr Shaw 

“I would like to acknowledge and thank Cr Preet Singh for his decision to resign as Mayor of Wyndham City. Cr Singh will continue to represent his constituents in Bemin Ward and I have confidence he will continue to be committed to both his ward and the important work of building a liveable city for our residents.”

Cr Shaw was first elected to Council in 2016 and previously served as Mayor for the 2018-2019 and 2024-2025 term.
