Wyndham City will continue to give residents diverse opportunities to connect with the arts while supporting the growth of the local arts industry, as part of the recently adopted Creative Wyndham Strategy 2026 – 2030.
Wyndham City’s Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw said the Strategy was developed with community and industry feedback.
“It recognises the role arts and culture plays to improve community wellbeing and the need to plan for the continued growth of the creative industries in Wyndham,” Cr Shaw said.
“It builds on Creative Australia’s research that almost all Australians (98 per cent) engage with the arts in some way, either by listening to music, reading, creating art, engaging with the arts online or by attending arts and cultural events and festivals.”
“Creative Wyndham Strategy 2026-2030 sets a clear vision for supporting and investing in local creatives by fostering opportunities for creative development, increasing community participation through reduced barriers to engagement, and shaping places using creativity, arts and culture to make Wyndham’s public spaces, neighbourhoods and community facilities more vibrant, inclusive and reflective of local identity, environment and shared stories through public art, creative activation and partnership with First Nations peoples.”
“The Strategy highlights that as Wyndham grows; arts, culture and creativity, play an important role fostering community, cultural understanding and a sense of belonging and helping to nurture a vibrant community where people feel connected.” said Cr Shaw
