Wyndham City will mark World Mental Health Day on 10 October by bringing the community together for a special Blue Tree Project event aimed at raising awareness, encouraging conversation and promoting mental wellbeing.
The Blue Tree Project is a community initiative that uses painted blue trees as a powerful symbol to spark conversations about mental health, reduce stigma and remind people that it's okay to seek support.
Residents are invited to attend the free event at Glen Devon Park in Werribee, where they will have the opportunity to help create Wyndham's very own blue tree, participate in activities, enjoy refreshments and connect with local mental health services and support organisations.
Wyndham Mayor Cr Mia Shaw said the event was an important reminder of the role communities play in supporting mental health and wellbeing.
"Good mental health and wellbeing are important for everyone. Creating opportunities for open and honest conversations is one of the most important things we can do as a community.”
"The Blue Tree Project is a powerful symbol of hope, connection and support. It reminds us that it's okay to ask for help and that no one should feel alone when facing mental health challenges."
"World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to check in with ourselves, our family, friends, neighbours and colleagues.”
"I encourage everyone to come along, help create Wyndham's blue tree and learn more about the services available in our community. Together, we can help build a more connected, supportive and mentally healthy Wyndham."
