Wyndham City is thrilled to announce Wyndham Art Gallery’s latest exhibition, Beyond the Ballerina is now on display.

Beyond the Ballerina opens on Thursday 9 October and runs until Sunday 21 December 2025, open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm.

This free exhibition takes dance out of the theatre and off the stage, placing it in the gallery as seen through the eyes of visual artists. 

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw, encouraged people to come and see the exhibition which explores dance across different forms mediums, cultural contexts and locations.”

“Beyond the Ballerina is a stunning new exhibition and is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the newly renovated Wyndham Art Gallery with family and friends.”

“The exhibition is displayed right across the gallery spaces, playing on the idea of dance and movement through space with interactive exhibits and children’s activities its fun for all ages!”

“Through collaboration with dancers—and using photography, video, virtual reality, augmented reality, and 3D video, the artists challenge our understanding of what dance is, where it can be experienced, and how we engage with it.” Cr Shaw said.

The exhibition features eight artists: including Joel Bray, Zoë Croggon, Anne Ferran, John McCormick & Adam Nash, Sally Smart, Leyla Stevens, Anne Scott Wilson as they work across diverse media and explore the future of dance as it merges with ritual, landscape, and technology.
