The Windermere Sports Club was formed in the 1970’s in the expanding Werribee suburb called “Windermere” which was later changed to Wyndham Vale.

The change was made as there was a suburb called “Windermere” already in Ballarat

It was initially a junior football club which entered teams in the Western Suburban Football League.
