Are you a multicultural family and need help in accessing kindergarten?

CALD Outreach support program

CALD stands for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse. It’s a term to describe people who come from migrant, refugee, or asylum seeker backgrounds and who may have different cultures or speak languages other than English at home.

We use this term to help us better understand and support CALD families in Wyndham as they raise their children and get them ready for kindergarten and school

Wyndham CALD Outreach Support Program

Our CALD Outreach Program aims to support Culturally and Linguistically Diverse families to access and participate in kindergarten, early childhood services and with the transition to school.

The Outreach CALD Support Officer can assist families to:

  • Understand the benefits of Three- and Four-Year-Old Kindergarten
  • Register and enrol for Three- and Four-Year-Old Kindergarten, as well as Early Start Kindergarten (ESK)
  • Connect with other early childhood services
  • Understand how to enrol their child in primary school

How to get support

Families and service providers can contact the Outreach CALD Support Officer on 0428 894 946  or KinderRegistrations@wyndham.vic.gov.au to learn more about the program.  Interpreters are available on request.

Registration Fee

As of 1 October 2024, kindergarten registration fees will no longer apply. A condition of Council’s funding from the Department of Education is that kindergarten registration will be free for any registration submitted on or after 1 October 2024.

If you have any questions, please contact Child & Family Support at KinderRegistrations@wyndham.vic.gov.au or on 1300 370 567.

Are there any fees involved?

The Victorian Government is providing free kindergarten for participating 3YO and 4YO kindergarten programs. All services on Wyndham City’s Central Registration Scheme offer a funded kindergarten program, meaning the service will receive funding directly from the Victorian Government and you will never be out of pocket.
