There are options available if you are having trouble paying your infringement.
You can:
- apply for an extension of time for three months
- apply for a payment plan over three months.
Who can apply
You can apply for an extension of time or a payment plan if you have:
- a Centrelink Pensioner Concession card
- a Department of Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card or Gold Card
- a Centrelink Health Care Card.
If you don’t have a concession card, you will need to provide us with a statutory declaration explaining why you are experiencing financial hardship. You can attach this to your application along with any other supporting documents.
You cannot apply for an extension of time or a payment plan if:
- you have previously defaulted on an extension of time or a payment plan
- the infringement notice was issued to a corporation
- an enforcement order for the infringement has been issued by the Court
- the vehicle is not registered in your name or you are not the nominated driver of the vehicle (if it is a parking infringement).
How to apply
You need to apply for an extension of time or a payment plan at least 7 days before your infringement is due.

Apply to have deductions taken from your Centrelink account
If you have a Centrelink Pensioner Concession card, you can apply to have deductions taken from your Centrelink account.

Work and Development Permit scheme
In some cases, you may be able to take part in the Work and Development Permit scheme.
This scheme allows people who have received infringements to reduce their fee by participating in activities like unpaid work, training courses or counselling, depending on their circumstances.
