What a year! Over the past 12 months Wyndham City has delivered major road upgrades, new community buildings and sporting facilities, enhanced open spaces and more through our capital works program.

Among the highlights is the opening of the $8.2 million Birnbial Family Centre in Manor Lakes, which offers three and four-year-old kindergarten, maternal child health, a toy library and other family support services.

Wyndham City also completed the $5.7 million Dohertys and Davis Road intersection upgrade in Tarneit, and partnered up with Melton City Council to deliver the $1 million Boundary and Davis Road intersection upgrade, which included pavement widening, resurfacing, signage and line marking for enhanced intersection safety.

In May, Council officially opened the new $15.1 million Alcock Road Reserve in Truganina, which features three soccer fields, six tennis courts, a sporting pavilion, new cricket nets, playgrounds, BBQ and picnic areas, landscaping and a car park.

Other highlights of this year’s program include four sporting pavilion upgrades, the opening of Levittown Rise dog off-leash park in Werribee, and several open space upgrades, including Times Square Park, Conquest Drive Reserve, Aquarius Street Reserve and Moondara Street Park.

Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Jennie Barrera, said there were even more projects on track for completion before Christmas, including the Williams Landing dog off-leash park.

“As our population continues to grow at a record rate, it’s more important than ever that Council delivers new infrastructure where needed and renews our ageing assets to make Wyndham a great place to live,” Cr Barrera said.

“Our capital works program focuses on spending in the right areas and delivering the assets and services that residents want and expect.”

“It’s been a busy year, and despite the cost pressures we’re experiencing through the increased cost of living, rate capping and population growth, I’m proud of what we have achieved this year.”

“I’m also excited about all the projects on track for delivery in 2024, including the Regional Football Facility, Truganina Community Centre, Hoppers Crossing Family Centre, Lollypop Creek Community Centre and the final stage at Webster Street Reserve and Bensonhurst Parade Reserve in Point Cook, to name a few.”

“I’d like to thank the Victorian Government for their investment in several of these projects, including $4 million towards the Birnbial Family Centre, $3 million for Alcock Road Reserve and $275,000 for the Levittown Rise dog off-leash park.”
