  • Social housing
  • Building railways and Level Crossing Removals
  • Public transport services includes buses, trains and railways
  • Legal courts
  • Emergency services including Police, Ambulance services, Fire Brigade and the State Emergency Service

State Governments raise money for these services through taxes and receive some funding from the Federal Government.

Roads that Council looks after

Wyndham City Council: maintain local roads – which are the majority of roads in Wyndham. Make a request or report an issue using Council’s Online Portal, or contact us via online chat, phone, email, by post or in person.

VicRoads (Victorian Government): maintain major roads in Wyndham. There are 32 of these major roads including freeways and arterial roads. Report an issue to VicRoads or call 13 11 70 or Check if a road is a local road

Street Lights

Powercor: manage almost all street lights in Wyndham. Report a fault online with Powercor or call 13 24 12.

Wyndham City Council: manage street lights located in a Council park, sports ground or reserve. Report a fault using Council’s Online Portal, or contact us via online chat, phone, email, by post or in person.

Blocked Stormwater Drains, Burst Pipes and Mains

Wyndham City Council: Maintain water drains that run along the street. Report a blocked drain using Council’s Online Portal, or contact us via online chat, phone, email, by post or in person.

Property Household Drains: Council does not manage private storm water pipelines around the perimeter of houses/buildings. For help with a blocked drain at your house/on your land you will need to contact a plumber.

Greater Western Water: Manage water mains and pipes. To check outages or report a leaking water main or pipe contact Greater Western Water, 13 44 99.

Werribee South Beach & Boat Ramp

Wyndham City Council: Maintain mowing, bollards, lighting, BBQ cleaning and boat ramp cleaning and repairs. Make a request or report an issue using Make a request or report an issue using Council’s Online Portal, or contact us via online chat, phone, email, by post or in person.

Parks Victoria: Responsible for beach area and water via 131 963 or www.parks.vic.gov.au. You can also check beach conditions at www.beachsafe.org.au.

Other Community Service Providers

Wyndham City Council is not responsible for providing:

  • Hospitals: The Victorian Government is responsible for building hospitals and providing health services. Visit vic.gov.au
  • Schools: The Victorian Government is responsible for building schools and supporting TAFE. Visit vic.gov.au
  • Police, Ambulance and Emergency Services: The Victorian Government is responsible for funding and providing emergency services.
  • Emergency Assistance: Call 000 if you require immediate assistance from either the police, fire brigade or ambulance services. Or dial 106 through TTY if you have a speech or hearing impairment.
  • Public Transport Services and Train Stations: The Victorian Government is responsible for planning and operating public transport services including buses and trains. Contact Public Transport Victoria (PTV) for information on services and disruptions, 1800 800 007.
  • Level Crossing Removals: The Victorian Government is responsible for Level Crossing Removals. For information visit bigbuild.vic.gov.au
  • Sewers: Greater Western Water look after sewers in Wyndham. To report a blocked sewer contact Greater Western Water, 13 44 99.
  • Traffic Lights: VicRoads (Victorian Government) is responsible for maintaining all traffic lights in Victoria. Report any issues to VicRoads or call 13 11 70.
