We’re commemorating National Sorry Day on 26 May and Reconciliation Week from 27 May to 3 June. There’ll be flag raising ceremonies, smoking ceremonies, cultural performances, morning tea and more.

On National Sorry Day we acknowledge the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations’.

During Reconciliation Week we reflect on our achievements towards reconciliation and what must still be done, marking two significant historical events in the journey, the 1967 Referendum and the Mabo Decision, more information: www.reconciliation.org.au

The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2024, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue.
