It’s night time. You receive an address to a secret location. A mysterious voice seems to be talking to you. A transmission is drawing you towards unknown destinations – weaving through the darkened streets and inward to the soul of the night.
The sell-out hit of Melbourne and Adelaide Fringe comes to Wyndham. Winner of the 2025 John Chataway Innovation Award and SA Touring Award. Set exclusively within the environs of Werribee, Transmission – into the dark invites audiences to embark on an intimate nocturnal journey that interweaves site-specific radio, installation, night-walking, and the sky. A night where the strange is real and the real is strange.

Warnings: The show includes travelling throughout Wyndham Cultural Centre, sometimes to unusual locations within and surrounding the venue. There may be some confined spaces, stairs, occasional low lighting, and moving lights. Due to venue constraints, parts of this show are not accessible. Tickets can only be booked two at a time. Transmission - into the dark has been designed to be intimate and shared with people you already know. Best experienced with known friends and family while respecting each other’s solitude.

Transmission – into the dark is a unique, night-walking experience held at a secret location. The exact address will be provided after ticket purchase. To participate, you must complete a form with your contact details, which can be found on your order confirmation email. Failure to provide these details by 3pm on the day of your session will result in forfeiting your ticket, and no refund will be issued.

About one step at a time like this
Employing an expanded notion of theatre, one step at a time like this, create works that are location-responsive and gently participatory, often combining digital media with live performance. Their works are recognised nationally and internationally for inventive and outstanding approaches to place and audience-centric theatre. Engaging the co-authoring activity of the audience is a key element. Presenters include Vivid Sydney, Melbourne Festival, Arts House, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Sadler’s Wells Theatre, Situations UK, Seoul Performing Arts Festival, Singapore International Festival of Arts and London Festival Cultural Olympiad. one step work with producers Richard Jordan Productions (UK) and Intimate Spectacle (AU).
