The International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations (UN) day observed internationally. It aims to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.
IDPwD is an opportunity to be part of creating an inclusive and diverse community for the 4.1% of Wyndham community that need assistance due to disability.
Join us for an inspiring community event on Thursday 4 December at Wyndham Civic Centre, 45 Princes Hwy Werribee to celebrate International Day of People with Disability.
- Natalie Ive is a person living with younger onset dementia/ primary progressive aphasia. Natalie believes that’s sharing her story is key to raise awareness of the challenges that she faces and also to be recognised for her many abilities.
- Matthew Haanappel has represented Australia at an International Level for 10 years and achieved many medals along the way, he is a leader experienced in policy, project delivery and advocacy to achieve accessibility and equal opportunities for all.
- Come and listen to Miss Emilia who is a weaver of sound and story — with heart. Step into a queer, disabled life lovingly tangled in soft poetry, shimmering reflections, and gentle musings. Her music wraps listeners in blankets of soul, jazz, and folk — inviting you to feel seen, soothed, and whole.
- Explore our mini-market featuring talented local creatives living with disabilities, in addition to those who create products aimed at increasing accessibility.
