A thrilling real-life demonstration of the power of women to outlast, outwit, and out-muscle the great ugly beast of sexism.
Since #MeToo erupted, millions of women have shared their stories. But inside those stories is a part we don’t always tell — a seed of heroic resistance. Because none of us cops this stuff without, in some way, opposing it.
Written by Emmy nominee Victoria Midwinter Pitt from conversations with eight very different Australian women: a bartender in her 20s, a botanist in her 90s, a sex worker, a nun, a counter-terrorism expert, an anthropologist, a world champion surfer, and a Prime Minister.
Together, they light up the golden thread that runs right through the patriarchy — and may yet be its undoing: the strengths women use to keep turning up to our own lives.

I’m With Her was first produced by Darlinghurst Theatre Company in 2019. Original concept by Darlinghurst Theatre Company.
Concept by Victoria Midwinter Pitt.
Writer’s note
I’m With Her was conceived and written on Whadjuk Noongar boodgar, it comes from stories that were told to me from across the continent, on country where stories have been kept and carried by Aboriginal people for tens of thousands of years. I acknowledge with deep respect the elders of these lands and give special thanks to the matriarchs who have held the ground on which we all live.
The stories in the play come from long, long conversations I had the privilege of beginning in 2019 and completing in 2022 with eight very different women: Nikki Keating, Julie Bates, Patricia Madigan, Pam Burridge, Julie Gillard, Marcia Langton, Marion Blackwell, and Anne Aly. For all their difference, they are in no way intended to represent a cross-section of Australian women. They represent only Page 8 of 8 themselves. Their experience is unique. And at the same time, there are things about each story that so many women and girls will relate to.
It is our fervent hope that so many others will pick up this script now and make it theirs and add their own stories to the pile.
The conversation is not finished. We’re just getting started. Join us. - VICTORIA MIDWINTER PITT
