Wyndham City Council has engaged former Victorian State Government Minister Justin Madden to provide strategic advisory services on the development agreement and governance frameworks in place for the delivery of the Wyndham Stadium Precinct.

Wyndham Corporate Services Director Mark Rossiter said that while the development agreement is robust in protecting the interests of ratepayers, given recent developments relating to the Western Melbourne Group, Council needs to closely manage its options for delivering the very best outcome for the community.

“Wyndham is deeply committed to this unique initiative, which has the potential to unlock an extraordinary level of public value,” Mr Rossiter said.

“It is prudent at this point to engage independent expertise to ensure we are on track to deliver this vision.”

Justin Madden is a former State Minister who held several portfolios relevant to this project, including Planning, Sport and the Commonwealth Games. He is also a qualified architect.

“Justin’s background makes him a perfect fit for this review. He brings extensive relevant expertise to the table and will provide Council with clear recommendations and advice,” he said.

Land earmarked for the Wyndham Stadium Precinct, including Ironbark Fields, is owned entirely by Wyndham City Council.
