Wyndham City is calling for feedback from young people aged 12-25 to understand what outdoor activities they would enjoy at a new, Outdoor Youth Space planned for Manor Lakes Community Learning Centre.

The outdoor space will be built with a State Government funding allocation that aims to encourage young people to participate in recreational activities in a safe space and strengthen connections with the local community.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw said that the space will be designed to support a variety of activities and casual play, to be enjoyed year-round with shade and seating.

“During earlier consultation with young people who use the Centre, a basketball ring and futsal goal were the most popular suggestions. We’d like to understand more about the types of sports and games young people would like to play here, to ensure the space is enjoyed by our regulars to the Centre,” Cr Shaw said.

“Manor Lakes Community Learning Centre is a welcoming hub where young people gather after school to catch up with friends and use facilities like the community centre and library.”

“It is wonderful that we can now provide an additional space where young people and other users of the Centre can have fun, stay active, socialise and where we can expand opportunities for community programming.”

The proposed location of the outdoor space is next to the Youth Services hub at Manor Lakes Community Learning Centre, within the northern edge of the car park.
