Wyndham's Building Blocks Community Leadership Program has been delivered in Wyndham since 2014. Designed to deliver on the objectives of both Wyndham City Plan and Wyndham 2040 community Vision as well as other council strategies, the program provides an opportunity for eligible residents to build and strengthen their capacity in community leadership and participation. This program aims to support the contribution of individuals towards Wyndham as a diverse, active, and well supported and connected community with high participation in local and municipal community life.

Wyndham's Building Blocks program is a FREE fully subsidized program for people who live, work, study, volunteer or play in Wyndham and who are interested in working collaboratively with others to develop and strengthen their community leadership and participation skills.

Program participation, unless otherwise noted, is for Wyndham people over 16 years, who wish to develop their leadership capacity and/or are a new and emerging leader. Please note that eligibility criteria and a selection process will apply.

Who is a community leader?

A community leader is a community member who mobilises and empowers others to make positive change within the Wyndham community through tangible actions with demonstrable community benefits.

The Building Blocks Community Leadership program’s objectives are:

  1. To provide participants with improved leadership skills and competencies, and a better understanding of civic participation and government.
  2. To ensure community capacity is built by providing opportunities for knowledge, skills and confidence to be applied.
  3. To contribute to a sustainable leadership framework that is inclusive, accessible and meets the needs of our diverse community.
  4. To deliver an enhanced community sector, through new community led initiatives and events and strengthened community organisations which serve residents of Wyndham.

Most recently Wyndham Building Blocks Programs were delivered over 15 weeks twice a year with applications opening between at the beginning and middle of the year. An application form/program brochure will be made available on Wyndham City website, Wyndham Civic Centre, local libraries and community centres.

Applications close 4 weeks prior to program commencement with successful applicants being notified by email and/or phone.
