The Tarneit Makers and Growers Market was a much loved event on the Wyndham calendar.  Featuring high quality, hand-made and designed art and craft, along with locally grown produce and authentic culinary experiences.

The market aimed to showcase local businesses and uplift community spirit through place activation and interaction.

This free Wyndham City event series was delivered by the Tarneit Suburban Revitalisation Program in partnership with the Victorian Government.

Applications are now CLOSED for STALLHOLDERS.

We are now in the planning phase and hope to be able to offer more markets in late 2022. Please keep an eye on this page for more information.

ABOUT THE MARKET

 

Priority will be given to stallholders who are local to the Tarneit area, which includes those who live, work, study, or socialise in the area.

 

Location of the market: This market will be held outside in the community centre car park.

SITES

Stallholder sites and locations will be allocated at the discretion of Council and the Market Manager.

(A description of your products for sale is required to assist Council in allocating the location of your stall).

The standard size of stallholder sites is 3m x 3m.

Marquees will be provided and set up.

Signage and displays must be confined to the stall site, to keep pathways and emergency exits clear.

Power and water will NOT be supplied to any stallholders.

All stallholders are expected to be self-contained and provide their own lighting if required. 

 

LIGHTING

Please note that power will not be provided to stalls. The market is during daylight hours, starting at 4pm but the final market event in June will operate until 9pm. While the car park area has lighting, it is the responsibility of the stallholder to provide any additional lighting that they may require. Lighting may be provided on the night of Saturday 25 June. This will be confirmed closer to the date.

 

RUBBISH REMOVAL

Stallholders must leave the site clean and tidy, and must take their rubbish home with them

 

 

STALLHOLDER ATTENDENCE

Stallholders must be present at their stalls for the duration of the operating times of the market (11-3pm). Stallholders must arrive by 11am, and are not permitted to pack up or leave before the market finishes. Please be packed up by 5pm.

 

SET UP AND PACK DOWN

In the week/s leading up to the market, stallholders will receive an information pack that outlines their bump-in time and stall location. Please note that stall location is subject to change, due to last minute changes or cancellations – please follow the direction of Council and market staff on the day.

 

 

PARKING

While most of the car park area will be reserved for stalls and the market area, a section of the car park will be used for stallholder and staff parking. Stallholders will be allocated one car park space per stall, subject to availability. Please follow the direction and instruction of staff members and car park attendants on the market day.

Please advise Council and market staff if you have any access requirements, such as disability parking access.

For market patrons, there is ample street parking available in the streets surrounding the community centre. 

 

PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE

Stallholders are required to provide their own Public Liability Insurance with a minimum of $10 million cover, and must submit a copy of their current Certificate of Currency with their application.

 

PRODUCT LIABILITY INSURANCE

Stallholders who are selling beauty products, bath products and/or toys, are required to provide their own Product Liability Insurance with a minimum of $10 million cover and must submit a copy of their current Certificate of Currency with their application.

FOOD & HEALTH  REGULATIONS

Food stallholders must comply with all relevant food handling regulations and standards pertaining to local government. All food stallholders must be registered with Streatrader and must provide a copy of their Streatrader Statement of Trade at least 5 days before their market date. STALLHOLDER CANCELLATION

Please notify the Market Manager 48 hours prior to the market day if you need to cancel your stall.

 

WEATHER CANCELLATION

In the event of bad weather, it is the discretion of Council to cancel or postpone the market. If the market is cancelled or postponed, stallholders will be notified as soon as possible.

What days/times will the Tarneit Makers and Growers Market operate?

The fourth Saturday of every month, from January to May 2022, from 11pm - 3pm.

The final market in June will run from 4pm to 9pm and there will be extra stalls and entertainment.

No, there is no cost to enter the market.

Do I need to book?

There is no need for public to book for this event but we do advise you check the website for any updates due to weather or venue changes.

How do I become a stallholder?

Applications for stallholders are currently open.  You can apply here.

What happens if it rains?

The Meet me in Tarneit sessions all take place outdoors at local neighbourhood parks and community centres. Weather will be monitored in the lead up and throughout the events.

If there is extreme weather forecast in the days leading up to any of the sessions, messaging will be placed on the Wyndham City website www.wyndham.vic.gov.au the Wyndham City facebook page to alert attendees that elements may be moved, postponed or cancelled.

Will the activations be accessible?

Yes, all sites will be accessible. We welcome visitors with assistance animals certified by a registered authority.

Accessible car parking – There is accessible parking at each site, please see event staff to be guided to parking area.

Where is there public car parking?

Most sites will have a car park within walking distance to the market or street parking available. If parking on the street, please be mindful of signage indicating parking time limits or restrictions.  We do encourage you to walk or cycle to the events if you live nearby.

Will there be food available for purchase?

Yes, there will be one or two food trucks and a coffee van at each market.

Will there be additional toilet facilities on site?

Toilets are located inside the Community Centres.

Is there an ATM onsite?

No, there will be no ATM onsite, we encourage payment by eftpos. If you or a customer needs an ATM for other reasons, you will need to go to the closest shopping centre.

The Tarneit Makers and Growers Market is a new activation series being held in conjunction with the Community Centres, designed to bring people together, celebrate our diverse community and support local businesses in the area.

The market aims to showcase local skills and uplift community spirit through place activation and interaction. The Tarneit Makers and Growers Market will provide a curated, market experience which features original, high quality hand-made or designed textiles, stationery, ceramics, homewares and jewellery, along with locally grown produce and authentic culinary experiences.

This free Wyndham City event series is made possible with the support of the Tarneit Revitalisation Board and funding from the Victorian Government.
