WYNDHAM CITY LIBRARIES’ YOUNG ORIGINATORS 

If you have ideas about how to make Wyndham City Libraries a better service for young people, we want to hear from you! We are looking for creative, community-focussed 14 to 19 year-olds to join the Young Originators. There are 7 places available for 2020-21.

WHAT DO THE YOUNG ORIGINATORS DO?

The Young Originators meets regularly to help create programs, services and events run by Wyndham City Libraries that are aimed at young people aged 13-19.

WHO CAN JOIN THE YOUNG ORIGINATORS?

Wyndham City Libraries are looking for people who:

  • Are aged 14 to 19 years.
  • Are keen to make a difference in the community.
  • Live, study, work or socialise in Wyndham.

WHAT YOU WOULD BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Your perspective on what events/services young people in Wyndham would be interested in attending/accessing at their local library and in the online space.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities and to build your leadership skills.
  • Preparedness to consult with other young people in schools and the wider community.
  • Willingness to be involved in community projects, activities and events.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

Young Originator members will be required to:

  • Attend meetings fortnightly online via MS Teams. The meeting day and time will be confirmed based on responses given in the online form. Meetings may become more frequent in the lead up to events.
  • Maintain a 75% attendance rate.
  • Attend and participate in Wyndham City Library initiatives as required.
  • Liaise regularly with the Education and Youth Services Librarian and communicate with other staff as required.
  • Deliver a project (to be determined by the Young Originators) during the term of appointment.
  • Have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) if aged 18 years or over.
    Note: You don’t have to have a WWCC when you apply for the Young Originators, however, successful applicants aged 18 years or over will have to register for a WWCC. There is no cost to apply for a WWCC. See here for more information.
