YA Summer Book Binge

Join the YA (Young Adult) Summer Book Binge for your chance to win! Download and complete a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line on the book binge card to be entered into the prize draw. The prize pool includes a $100 Robinsons Bookshop voucher, new release YA books and more!


What is the YA Summer Book Binge?

The YA Summer Book Binge is a reading competition where you keep track of the YA (Young Adult) books you read over summer by writing the title and author in the matching square on the book binge card. Some squares on the card have a task, for those you need to write the answer in the appropriate square.

How do I win?

Complete a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line on the card to receive 1 entry into the prize draw. You will receive 1 entry for every line you complete (with a maximum of 4 entries for completing all 16 squares). Tasks related to reading must be completed using titles that fall within the YA genre (if you’re not sure what YA is, see the definition below).

Wyndham City Libraries members aged 12+.

How do I submit my card for the prize draw?

Submit the front and back of your completed card by:

  1. Emailing it to teensummerread@wyndham.vic.giv.au; OR
  2. Dropping it off at one of Wyndham City Libraries’ branches.

Important dates

Entries open:                           9am, Wednesday 1 December 2021.
Entries close:                           5pm, Monday 31 January 2022. 
Prize winners announced:    Monday 7 February on Instagram and Facebook.

YA means that the main character(s) of the book is a young person/are young people (aged 12-25). YA books focus on the experiences & perspectives of young people.

Terms and Conditions

YA Summer Book Binge Competition Terms and Conditions

  1. This competition is run by Wyndham City Council (‘Council’) in the state of Victoria, Australia only.
  2. By entering this competition, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions of entry.  If your entry does not comply with these terms and conditions, it will not be valid and will not be accepted.
  3. Entry is restricted to persons aged 12 and over who are a Wyndham City Libraries member.  Council staff, Councillors and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.
  4. Entrants aged under 18 years must obtain their parent or guardian’s consent to enter this competition.  Entrants acknowledge and agree that Council may contact their parent or guardian at any time for the purpose of confirming that consent has been provided.
  5. The competition commences at 9:00am on 1 December 2021 and closes at 5:00pm on 31 January 2022 (‘competition period’).  Entries received outside of the competition period will not be accepted.
  6. To enter the competition, during the competition period you must:
  1. download a Book Binge card from Council’s website;
  2. complete at least one line of activities on the card in accordance with the directions provided; and
  3. submit a copy of your completed card by email to teensummerread@wyndham.vic.gov.au or in person at any Wyndham City Libraries branch during opening hours.
  1. Only one card per entrant will be accepted.
  2. Entrants who complete an activity on their card that entitles them to collect a prize of either a lucky dip or a cotton library bag may bring their card to any Wyndham City Libraries branch during the competition period to claim their prize, subject to prize availability.  Entrants acknowledge and agree that each Wyndham City Libraries branch has a total of 50 lucky dip and 50 cotton library bag prizes that may be claimed during the competition period.
  3. Entrants will receive one entry into the prize draw per completed line of activities on their card, subject to a maximum of four entries.  Entrants acknowledge and agree that where they have multiple entries into the prize draw, they will only be eligible for a maximum of one prize in the competition.
  4. The competition will be drawn on 2 February 2022 by Council staff.  One winner and two runners up will be drawn at random from all valid entries, who will each receive the following prize:

First runner up

A copy of Social Queue by Kay Kerr and Beasts of Prey by Ayana Grey, valued at $39.98.

Second runner up

A copy of Bad Girls Never Say Die by Jennifer Mathieu and a copy of Take Me With You When You Go by David Levithan and Jennifer Niven, valued at $39.98.

  1. Winners will be contacted by email on 2 February 2022 and will subsequently be announced on Council’s website and the Wyndham City Libraries Facebook and Instagram pages on 7 February 2022.  Winners consent to the publication of their name for the purpose of announcing the competition winners.
  2. If a winner cannot be contacted by 5:00pm on 9 February 2022, Council may opt to conduct a further draw to determine a new winner.
  3. If a prize has not been collected by 5:00pm on 16 February 2022, the winner will be deemed to have surrendered the prize and Council may opt to conduct a further draw to award the unclaimed prize.
  4. Council may require a winner to provide evidence of their identity and/or connection to Wyndham.  If there is a dispute as to the identity of a winner, Council reserves the right, in its entire discretion, to determine the identity of a winner.
  5. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.
  6. Council accepts no responsibility for late, lost, incomplete or invalid entries.
  7. If for any reason, this competition cannot be run as planned, Council reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition.
  8. Council reserves the right to change or modify these terms and conditions at any time.
  9. Council’s decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
