  1. This competition is run by Wyndham City Council in the state of Victoria, Australia only.
  1. By entering this competition, you agree to accept these terms and conditions of entry.  If your entry does not comply with these terms and conditions, it will not be valid and will not be accepted.
  1. Entry is restricted to persons aged 12 to 18 who live, study, work or socialise in Wyndham.  Entrants aged under 18 years must obtain their parent or guardian’s consent to enter this competition.  Council staff, councillors and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.
  1. The competition commences at 9:00am on 1 December 2019 and 4:00pm on 29 February 2020 (‘competition period’).  Entries received outside of the competition period will not be accepted.
  1. To enter the competition, during the competition period, entrants must visit  www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/services/libraries/youth/teen-summer-read to complete at least one of the following competition tasks and submit it with a properly completed entry form:
  • Take the YA Lit Quiz;
  • Create and upload a book review; and/or
  • Register their library card and borrow more physical library items than any other entrant during the competition period.
  1. Entrants may complete more than one of the competition tasks during the competition period.  Only one competition task per person will be accepted.
  1. Entrants acknowledge that where they have completed more than one competition task, they will only be eligible for a maximum of one prize in the entire competition.
  1. The entrant may only register their own library card and must not register another person’s library card with their entry.  The name on the registered library card must match the name provided by the entrant in the online entry form.
  1. Physical library items must be borrowed from one of Wyndham’s five library branches and does not include eBooks or eAudiobooks.
  1. Book reviews must be in written, image-based or video format and must meet the specifications below:
  • Written book reviews must not exceed 500 words;
  • Image-based book reviews must be:
    • in JPEG format; and
    • less than 25mb in file size; and
  • Video book reviews must be:
    • no longer than 30 seconds in length;
    • in MP4 format; and
    • less than 25mb in size.
  1. Book reviews must be the entrant’s own original work and must not contain any objectionable, profane, insulting, inflammatory or defamatory material, infringe a third party’s intellectual property, or breach a person’s privacy.
  1. Competition winners will be determined on 11 March 2020 at Point Cook Library.  Six winners will be chosen – one from each category based on the judging criteria below.  Each category first prize will receive a $50 Robinsons Bookshop gift voucher and each category runner up will receive a signed copy of Morris Gleitzman’s book, Loyal Creatures (RRP $19.99).  The total prize pool is valued at $209.97.  Refer to Robinsons Bookshop’s website (www.robinsonsbooks.com.au/robinsonshelpdesk.php) for their terms and conditions for redemption of gift vouchers.

  1. If there is a tie in any of the YA Lit Quiz or Most Items Borrowed categories, Council will conduct a random draw of all tied entries in that category to determine the winner.
  1. Winners will be contacted by phone or email on 12 March 2020 and announced on Council’s social media pages on the same day. Winners consent to the publication of their name on Council’s social media pages.
  1. If a winner cannot be contacted by 25 March 2020, Council may opt to conduct further judging to determine a new winner.
  1. If a prize has not been claimed by 22 April 2020, the winner will be deemed to have surrendered the prize and Council may opt to conduct further judging to award the unclaimed prize.
  1. The entrant retains copyright in their book review entry, as applicable.
  1. The entrant grants Council an exclusive, perpetual and royalty-free licence to publish, cause to be published or otherwise use the entrant’s book review in whole or in part and in any format whatsoever:
  • In any Council promotional material, including Council’s websites and social media pages; and
  • At any of Council’s library branches.
  1. The entrant must indemnify and hold harmless Council, its councillors and employees against all claims arising in connection with a breach of these terms and conditions.
  1. Council may, at its absolute discretion, require winners to provide evidence of their identity, age and/or proof that they live, study, work or socialise in Wyndham.
  1. Council reserves the right not to award a prize in any category.
  1. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.
  1. Council’s decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  1. Council accepts no responsibility for late, lost, incomplete or invalid submissions.
