Wyndham City’s Hoppers Crossing Children’s Centre provides a safe and high quality occasional child care service. All programs are educationally based and provide a caring environment for children to be able to learn and socialise. Occasional care provides short periods of care when parents need time out to attend an appointment, shop or study. It may also be used to help children develop social skills or as a stepping stone to other early education and care services.
Casual bookings can be made up to one week in advance or on the day for occasional care. Regular sessional bookings are also available.
Occasional care currently operates from 9:00am to 2:00pm on Thursdays and Fridays for children aged 0 to 5 years. Families may book in for 2.5 hour or 5 hour sessions within those times.
As of next year, there will be even more choice and flexibility to suit individual family circumstances, with occasional care sessions running from Tuesday to Friday, rather than just two days per week.*
The current fee for occasional care is $15 per hour. Eligible families may be able to reduce the cost of their sessions by applying for the Child Care Subsidy.
Please refer to the Centrelink website for further information about the Child Care Subsidy.
* The Hoppers Crossing Children’s Centre also currently operates a pre-kindergarten program. From 2020, it will no longer run pre-kindergarten sessions due to adequate provision of three-year-old programs at both Council and non-Council owned kindergartens. Instead, it will operate as a dedicated occasional care service.
