Dear Kindergarten Families,

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, we understand that many of our families are choosing not to send their child to our three-year-old kindergarten program and have several questions regarding the program, fees and invoices. Due to the rapidly changing nature of this situation, I hope this letter provides you with some clarity.

In previous correspondence, you were informed that a new invoice would be issued on the commencement of Term Two. Currently there is no Government fee relief for families attending our three-year-old kindergarten program. Council is in consultation with the Department of Education and Training (DET) and is investigating how we can continue to deliver our program under the current circumstances. As such, we will not be issuing new invoices, until we receive further guidance and advice.

In the meantime, you will be able to continue to attend our three-year-old program, even if you haven’t paid your fees.

While face to face services have resumed on kindergarten sites, Wyndham City is introducing a range of online learning and curriculum solutions so that children can learn from home, where possible. We strongly encourage parents or guardians who do not need their child to attend their kindergarten sessions in person, to keep them at home and undertake remote learning.

We are also in the process of organising learning from home packs to support your child to undertake remote learning. Your teacher will be in touch with you shortly, once they are finalised.

For those families who do need their child to attend kindergarten in person, we have made some small adjustments. Due to the low number of children currently attending, we are joining our three-year-old groups with our four-year-old groups, with at least one staff member that will be familiar to your child. This ensures we can still provide your child with the best program and support possible.

We have received an influx of requests from families wishing to cancel their three-year-old kindergarten place. While invoices and fees are under review, we are encouraging families not to cancel their place and to continue to engage in our program, either face to face or remotely.

If you cancel your place, we are currently unable to hold it until restrictions are lifted and we return to full service. This means, that once your child’s place is cancelled, you will no longer be able to attend the service and your place may be reallocated to another service due to the high number of children on our waitlist.

If you do wish to cancel your current place, and seek a refund, we ask that you please email our Child and Family Support Assistants on If you are seeking a refund of your term two fees, we ask that you please include the below details in your email, so we can process your refund as quickly as possible.
